Traffic calming in Portesham

Message received from Chris James, Portesham
Dear Sirs,
Some feedback about the marking out of proposed alterations to traffic flow in Portesham.
1. Have the housholders directly opposite the proposed pedestrian crossing been consulted as to their views on having a lamp shining in their window? Where are the landing pads supposed to be - there's no pavement either end.
2. Grass areas in the Back Street / Front Street junction.
The proposed grass ares are not needed as Back Street is not in the main flow of traffic.
THe proposed grassed areas are a major inconvenience to the immediate householders, restricting their parking options unless they park on the grassed areas.
The grassed areas will restrict the ability of residents to loop round and travel in the opposite direction.
There will be inadequate parking for off Front Street for users of the post office.
There won't be enoug space for negotiating around the ducks and geese - a major problem at certain times of the day.
3. Beware of taking the opinions of self sering cliques as the authoritative voice of the village, what we want is a proper democratic voice - not a minority opinion.
